Vancouver was named the world's greenest city

 
 
 

Vancouver, Canada is setting the standard for sustainability. The city has earned a reputation as one of the greenest in the world thanks to its dedication to lowering its environmental impact. Vancouver is setting the bar for sustainable cities with its active transportation system, green building guidelines, and renewable energy programmes.

In an effort to reach 150,000 trees, the City of Vancouver has planted more than 122,000 trees since 2010. The city aspires to become a zero waste community by 2040 and boasts some of the lowest emissions in North America.

The 28-kilometer seawall in Vancouver, the longest uninterrupted waterfront path in the world, is also highlighted in the Lonely Planet article. It connects a number of public areas, including Granville Island, Sunset Beach, English Bay, and Stanley Park.
